Time for an upgrade: Apple Watch SE or Series 10?

Why should I choose for an Apple Watch SE or an Apple Watch 10?

At the moment, I have an Apple Watch SE from 2020 (44mm size), and I’m considering replace it with either the new Apple Watch SE (2024) or the Apple Watch 10.

First of all, I don’t do mountain biking anymore because my knees. Now I mainly go for walks and occasionally go swimming – both activities are no problem for either watch.

The first major difference between these two models is the price – about € 190.
Another important difference is software support: the SE gets 36 months of updates after release, while the 10 gets 60 months.

Storage size (32GB vs 64GB) doesn’t really matter to me.
Battery life in workout mode is around 6 hours for the SE and 7 hours for the 10.
With my condition, I don’t think that extra hour will make a difference – I’ll be out of energy long before the watch is! 😂

The ECG and advanced health sensors are an advantage of the Watch 10, but they are not must-haves for me.
As for GPS, the SE support an extra system (QZSS), but I don’t think I really need that.

Considering the prices, the SE seems like the better choice, but the Watch 10 offers two more years of software updates.

Which one should you buy?
